Reviews for Learn Nature Photography

Brent Clark: The Workflow Collection is a diverse set of tutorials from a supergroup of nature photography educators that is sure to inspire! While each tutorial is very useful on its own, I think the best part of this collection is being able to synthesize the lessons of multiple instructors into a generalized approach that works for me. Although I've practiced photography for many years, several of the topics cover things I have never done before, and I came away feeling emboldened to get out of my comfort zone and try new things.

I'd also recommend this collection for beginners because it covers the essentials that I wish I had learned much earlier - trip planning, fieldwork, post-processing, and printing!

David Kingham: If you've ever wondered how professional photographers create such stunning images, this video series is a must-have. Each instructor shares their unique workflow, covering a specific subject matter to help you understand their entire process, from scouting and planning to working in the field, processing the images, and even printing them. As a professional photographer myself, I wish I had access to this breadth of knowledge early on in my photographic journey, as it would have greatly accelerated my growth. Don't hesitate to purchase this series; it's filled with nuggets of wisdom that you won't find anywhere else.

Mario Lombardi: The “Color Control” portion of the Workflow Collection enhanced my understanding and approach to color, and improved my editing and color workflow in several ways. Specifically, I now know what order to adjust luminosity and color once I get into Photoshop. I also learned the importance of adjusting colors individually and locally. From start to finish, Eric Bennett was simply superb.

Brie Stockwell: When I was just learning nature and landscape photography, I wanted to know more about working in the field, good editing techniques, and overall workflow. In addition, I didn’t know what would be helpful to know or what would keep me from making newbie mistakes. This Workflow Collection from Learn Nature Photography solves for all of this!

This awesome collection offers a variety of editing techniques that help a learner add next-level nuance in their images without making things overly complicated. For example, even after 4+ years and many hours of photography, the tutorials from Alex Noriega and Eric Bennett taught me some crucial, new-to-me skills. I love that all of these videos were created specifically for this collection and, together, offer a complete workflow collection that will be helpful for photographers of all skill levels. Great work!

Shanda Akin: Nowhere else can you find a photography series that showcases a fresh range of diverse approaches in one profound collection. The skills I learned from the dynamic instructors in this course are endless and have simply propelled my growth in photography from scouting to printing.

Martha Montiel: The wealth of knowledge shared in these video tutorials is truly invaluable. From initial planning to execution, and finally editing the image, each photographer explains every step in a clear and easy-to-understand manner, making it simple to replicate later. Through the Workflow Collection, I discovered the immense power of mastering Photoshop and the TK9 panel. These are aspects of photography I had previously neglected but now am realizing their significant impact on developing photographs that stand out. I am eager to put into practice the knowledge that I have gained here.

Chrissy Donadi: The 2024 Workflow Collection is a treasure trove of expertise, showcasing not only the exceptional talent of seven phenomenal photographers but also their prowess as exceptional teachers. Throughout the series, viewers gain invaluable insights into landscape photography techniques, witnessing each photographer's unique approach to photographing and processing. From essential settings used by all to sharing different methods for achieving the same processing goal, this collection offers a comprehensive guide for photographers at every level, making it an indispensable resource for mastering many aspects of the art and editing of nature photography.

Jeanie Sumrall-Ajero: As I watched each of the tutorials in this Workflow Collection, it became apparent that I was watching master craftspersons at work both in the field and at the computer. Wow! I greatly appreciated seeing how they worked through problem solving issues that arose due to limitations with gear or in-field conditions.

For me, this collection really drove home the point that paying attention to small details can elevate a good image to greatness and that subtlety is key. I thought I already had a fairly nuanced approach to post-processing, but after watching these tutorials I’ll be refining my post-processing technique to include even more incremental adjustments that help “move the image forward” (as opposed to applying fewer, more aggressive adjustments). Thank you for the limitless inspiration.

Barbara Livieri: The Workflow Collection is more than just step-by-step instructions: each person has a unique nature photography-based topic, and each has their own methods, techniques, and workflows to achieve their goals. The explanations are detailed, and they give reasons behind their decisions, allowing us viewers to turn them into successful workflows for ourselves.

Each of the workflows was engaging, and even after photographing for some time, I found many new nuggets of wisdom that I can use in my own photography. In other words, this old dog learned some new tricks! I highly recommend purchasing this series!

Nancy Kurokawa: I had a chance to review Eric, Sarah, and Sean's courses from the Workflow Collection.

I really appreciated Eric Bennett’s approach to editing images. While Eric’s approach is different from how I normally edit images, I am looking forward to trying out his approach of thinking about color throughout the entire editing process (and to using some of the new editing techniques I picked up along the way). I can’t wait to see how my editing process changes.

I got so much out of Sarah’s instructional videos. Sarah is a thoughtful instructor as she walks you through her black and white photography process from understanding the concepts of B&W photography, shooting in the field and then editing the image. I really enjoyed how Sarah shared an exciting afternoon in Death Valley photographing some atmospheric conditions through the different images she took and her explanation of what worked (or didn’t work) in with her different compositions.

Sean’s superpower is his ability to explain complicated information in a clear and concise manner. The process of printing your images can seem daunting and overwhelming. After watching Sean’s videos, I am confident that I will be able to use the information provided to successfully print my images. I will admit I bought a good printer a year ago and have NOT printed many images. Moving forward, this is going to change!

Anna Morgan: This new collection of tutorials from Learn Nature Photography takes you logically through the workflow process, from the planning stage all the way through to printing and is full of exceptional instruction to help you learn the art and craft of nature photography while also being easy to digest. The tutorials bring something for everyone irrespective of your level of photography. Sean Bagshaw’s deep dive into preparing files for printing was especially enlightening to me in in terms of the differences in the preparation process between sending images to a photo lab versus printing on a personal home printer and I am excited to incorporate some of that newfound knowledge into my workflow. The bonus video - a behind-the-scenes candid discussion of the whys and hows of putting this collection together - was also a nice addition which I appreciated being part of the collection.

Paul Bowman: This is perhaps the greatest collection of educational materials assembled in the history of photography—nay, in the whole of human history.

When humankind reaches the stars, and that most significant and eternal question—whether we are alone in the universe—is finally answered, this shall be what is offered upon a golden record to other intelligent life. It will duly serve as representation of our greatest achievements as a species.

Steve and Lorraine Smith: Wow, from the very beginning this is so well done. You all have obviously spent a lot of time and effort putting this together. What a classy group of professionals. I am thrilled to keep learning and greatly inspired…worth every penny!
